For a while I worked on sun4v support for FreeBSD. I'm quite fond of the architecture and enjoyed working with the person who was my primary contact at Sun. However, after a series of misunderstandings with Sun I lost interest and pursued other avenues. More recently my primary contact left Sun.
While I was doing the work I gave a short interview .
There is some hope that someone else will pick it up. OpenBSD has a complete port. However, as one FreeBSD developer put it: "Having an entirely giant-locked kernel probably hides a multitude of sins. Maybe there will be some utility in there though."
